Tribals fire an effigy of MP Hansdak for supporting Christian missionary's conversion activities

In Jharkhand, hundreds of tribals have burned an effigy of Vijay Hansdak, Member of Parliament (MP) from Rajmahal constituency. The protest took place in Chainpur Panchayat. Tribals have alleged that the MP Hansdak is against the Santali language Ol Chiki script.

According to the report, Dilip Marandi, leader of Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan, alleges that MP Hansdak is supporting the Christian missionaries by opposing the Santali language. Christian missionaries are converting the tribals. Missionaries want to enslave the tribals. Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan is against their conversion activities. The MP's efforts will never succeed.
On the same day, an effigy of MP Vijay Hansdak has also burned in Sunta Panchayat under the leadership of Sarita Soren. Hundreds of tribals gathered together and protested against the MP Vijay Hansdak.
As per 2011 Census of India, 4.3% of people in Jharkhand are Christians. Christians are majority in Simdega district of Jharkhand. According to the report published in 2017, Social worker Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh, who has a bachelor's degree in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), has claimed that according to the 2011 Census, the Christian population rose by 29.7%, Muslims rose by 28.4% and Hindus by 21% in Jharkhand.
Dr Singh also alleges that missionaries in Jharkhand have found a fertile ground to expand their operations because of socioeconomic conditions of the tribals. Every day, dozens of tribals get converted in Jharkhand.
