Shivsena to organize 'Azaan Competition' in Mumbai

Pandurang Sakpal, Southern Mumbai Chief of Shivsena, has decided organize an 'Azaan Competition' for local school children. He said that the decision was taken to encourage Muslim children to recite Azaan.

"We have decided to organize the Azan Competition for school children. Voice and pronunciation will be the criteria for the participants. Maulana will be the examiner. Shivsena will give the prizes and will pay the entire cost of the competition," Pandurang Sakpal said.
 
 
Azan means the Islamic call to prayer, which is proclaimed for five times a day from the loudspeaker of mosques. There are several cases has been registered against the proclamation of Azan on the loudspeaker. Recently in Mumbai, a woman named Karishma Bhosale had visited Noori Elahi Sunni Welfare Association's mosque in the Mankhurd area and asked the mosque management to reduce the noise of the loudspeaker through which the muezzin was giving a call for prayer.
