According to the direction of the Supreme Court of India in Ayodhya case, the Sunni Waqf Board has decided to accept the land offered by Uttar Pradesh Government for the construction of the mosque, The Week reported.
According to media reports, in a note issued by the Board after its meeting in Lucknow stated, "The board has decided to accept the land."
Waqf Board Chairman Zufar Faroqui told media that, "The grand traditions of the Indo-Islamic culture will be displayed at the centre".
The allotted five-acre land is located in Dhannipur village in the Raunahi area of the Faizabad Lucknow highway which is some 20 kilometres away from the Ayodhya site.
The Board has decided to constitute a trust for the construction of a mosque on the land. The membership of the trust shall be announced later.
