Tamil Nadu (TN) Government's Chief Secretary K. Shanmugam, wrote a letter to Muslim leaders regarding doubts about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the minds of the public and more particularly among the minority community, India TV reported.
According to media reports, Shanmugam requested the Muslim leaders to participate in the meeting and share their views on CAA. The state has been witnessing anti-CAA protests from different sections of the Muslim community.
Till today, several anti-CAA protests in TN carried by Muslim organisations. Muslim outfits demanded TN Government pass a resolution against CAA in State Assembly. However, TN Government refused the demand with the explanation that the Legislative Assembly could not pass a resolution against the Central legislation passed by the Parliament.
