Darul Ifta Jamia Nizamia issues fatwa which favors skipping of congregational prayers.

Hyderabad based seminary called Darul Ifta Jamia Nizamia has issued a Fatwa citing in the present situation, where the Coronavirus is rapidly growing in the State, to prevent or combat the virus, sermons can be shortened, and the devout can perform prayer at home even on Shab-e-Meraj, The Hans India reported.

According to media reports, the Islamic organization has issued a Fatwa on the query on the skipping of Urdu sermons and performing the Sunnah and Nafil prayers at home.
Though India is not an Islamic country, but one secular organization namely Helping Hand Foundation (HHF) had urged the Ulemas to avail the concessions available in the Sharia law to help the Government cope with the situation.
Hyderabad Ulema and Mashayek from various Islamic organizations requested the people to make ablution at home and not to use caps kept in mosques as they may be contaminated and also urged them to perform the Sunnah and Nafil prayers at home and go mosques only for Farz prayers.
They also asked the mosque managing committees across the city to deliver only Arabic sermons to educate the people about the precautions and also to reduce the time of prayer.
Apart from the Juma prayers, the Ulema and Mashayek were also asked to postpone the public meeting on Shab-e-Meraj and people were asked to perform Farz prayer in the mosque.
