According to media reports, the Muslim man had posted a message seeking support on the Kashmir issue and caused damage worth thousands of pounds. Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has condemned the vandalism of Gurdwara and demanded the UK Government to ensure the safety of Gurdwaras and Sikh citizens.
So far, many cases of oppressions of Sikh by Muslims regarding faith have been reported.
According to a report, in 2007, a Sikh girl's family claimed that she had been forcibly converted to Islam, and they received a police guard after being attacked by an armed gang.
A BBC Inside Out (London) programme televised in September 2013 interviewed several young Sikh women who were allegedly groomed and sexually abused by Muslim men, with one alleged ex-groomer even admitting that they specifically targeted Sikh girls. Bhai Mohan Singh, working for the Sikh Awareness Society (SAS), told the BBC he was investigating 19 cases where Sikh girls were allegedly being groomed by older Muslim men, of which one ended with a successful conviction.
According to another report published in 2014, The Akal Takht had taken a serious view of reports of Sikh girls falling victim to 'Love Jihad', an act that involves Muslim youths attempting to impress, marry and convert non-Muslim girls to Islam for using them in jihadi efforts. While talking to media, the Takht Jathedar had said that the Sikh Council had rescued some of the victims (girls), but there could be hundreds of such cases existed in the UK.
Significant cases of persecution of Sikhs by Muslims over faith in Islamic countries also have been reported. Recently on March 25, 2020, Islamists attached Sikh Gurudwara in which 25 Sikhs were killed. In connection with the persecution of Sikhs and Hindus, 26 US Congressmen had urged Secretary of State, Mr Pompeo to facilitate 'safe' relocation of Sikhs and Hindus from Afghanistan. So far, several Gurudwaras and Temples have been vandalized in Pakistan. Many Sikh and Hindu girls have been abducted and forcefully converted to Islam in Pakistan.
