'Dalit Positive Movement' registers complaint against 'The Caravan' for demeaning the religious beliefs

A Twitter account called Dalit Positive Movement has lodged a complaint in Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment against the Caravan magazine. The account claimed that the content published by The Caravan is against the religious beliefs of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC-ST) communities.

On July 2, The Caravan on Twitter had said that the Indian diaspora is delighted that the Diwali is commemorated in the White House. It does not care that the good Hindu Goddess Durga's killing of the evil Mahishasur is deeply offensive to many Dalits and Adivasis, for whom Mahishasur is an ancestor.

By denouncing the above content, Dalit Positive Movement said on Twitter that the content published by the Caravan is defaming and demeaning the religious beliefs of SC & ST communities who are part and parcel of Hinduism.
