Catholic Church to sell the property to compensate abuse victims

France's Catholic Church said that it would sell real estate and, if needed, the Church will take loans to set up a fund to compensate thousands of people sexually abused by Church clergy. The decision was taken after a major investigation found in October 2021 that French clerics sexually abused more than 200,000 children over the past 70 years.

The October report found that the French church had shown "deep, total and even cruel indifference for years," protecting itself rather than the victims of what was systemic abuse. A series of sexual abuse scandals around the world is a moment of shame for Christian priests.
Many cases have also been reported in India. Some Christian clergies have been found guilty, while some cases are under investigation. Not only children but also nuns were also abused by Church priests in India.
Sister Jesme has written a book about her life as a nun. She shared her experience with the institution of the Catholic Church in Kerala. Her book named 'Amen, The Autobiography of Nun', details the humiliation, sexual abuse and mental torture at the seminary.
