Muslim body opposes Uniform Civil Code, demands anti-blasphemy law

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board opposed Uniform Civil Code and demanded the enactment of an anti-blasphemy law to punish those who show disrespect to Prophet Muhammad and "holy religious figures". AIMPLB told the Government not to attempt to impose UCC directly or indirectly.

The demands are part of a resolution adopted at the two-day convention attended by around 200 AIMPLB members in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The resolution did not name any religious figure other than Prophet Muhammad.
