Dharmshala, February 12: On the occasion of the Tibetan New Year, the Members of the Central Tibetan Administration held prayers at the head office of the Tibetan Government-in-exile in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Central Tibetan administration President Lobsang Sangay, cabinet ministers, speaker, and deputy speaker of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile also attended the symbolic celebration.
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the Central Tibetan administration made a symbolic celebration which began with the offering of prayers at the head office of the Tibetan Government-in-exile in Dharamshala.
Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd), Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the festive occasion of Losar, the New Year festival of the Buddhist community.
Losar festival is the Tibetan New Year festival. Losar is marked with ancient ceremonies that represent the struggle between good and evil. According to the Tibetan lunar calendar, Losar is the first day of the New Year. Traditionally, it is celebrated in a pompous way.
