The dead body of a Christian nun was found in Kerala on February 14. Sister Jessina Thomas, a member of the Missionary Congregation of the Daughters of St. Thomas, was missing from St Thomas Convent at Vazhakala, a suburb of Kochi, the State’s commercial capital.
Sister Thomas was the latest among more than 20 Catholic religious women who died in mysterious circumstances in Kerala in the past three decades. Additionally, many cases of nun rape have been reported in Kerala. Some of them are under investigation, while in some cases, the accused are in prison. It was observed that in many cases, male church priests have been accused.
Meanwhile, the Police have registered a case of unnatural death. The body has been shifted to the Kalamassery Medical College. She was a native of Koruthodu village in the Idukki district of Kerala.
