A case has been registered against St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church located in Bhopal district of Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal Crime Branch has registered a case against 11 people, including the chief functionary of the Church for alleged violation of Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and ‘forgery’.
While speaking with Times of India, Crime Branch ASP Gopal Dhakad said that the chief functionary of the Church and other members have accepted foreign funding in violation of norms. The case has been registered under sections 33,34 and 35 of FCRA and 420,467,468 and 471 IPC.
Crime Branch ASP Dhakad said that the Police have enough evidence against the Church. ASP Dhakad said, “The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Madhya Pradesh was among 69 NGOs blacklisted from receiving foreign funds in 2015.”
