Uttarakhand Government reduces the period of Kumbh 2021; know the dates

Haridwar, February 17: Amid ongoing Coronavirus infection, Uttarakhand Government reduced the period of the MahaKumbh Mela and announced that it will be held for only one month. Chief Secretary Om Prakash made this announcement saying, "Mahakumbh will be organized from April 1 to 30." The officials also added no special trains will be run for the religious congregation given the coronavirus situation. He also informed that the decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Om Prakash.

The State Government has planned to integrate CCTV cameras with artificial intelligence software to keep the headcount from exceeding the prescribed limit. It should be noted that Kumbha Mela was originally held for four months.
 
The State Government has also issued guidelines and standard operating protocols (SOPs) for the upcoming pilgrimage festival. Earlier, the Central Government had also issued guidelines and standard operating protocols (SOPs) for the same.
