Pakistani MP apologises for his controversial tweet against Hindus

Amir Liaquat Hussain, Member of Pakistan's Parliament belonging to Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party apologized for his controversial tweet mocking Hinduism. He tweeted an image of a Hindu deity to mock opposition leader Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Hindu Council has strongly condemned the tweet and demanded action against MP Amir Liaquat Hussain. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council said, “We strongly condemned this shameful act by someone who claims to be a religious scholar also but doesn't know the respect for other religions."
 
Hussain later deleted his controversial tweet and apologized to Hindu. On Twitter, he wrote, "I know the sentiments of the Hindu community were hurt. I respect all faiths, this is what my religion has taught me," he added.
