A 13-year-old kidnapped Hindu girl named Kavita Oad was forcibly converted to Islam in Pakistan. A video of the conversion ceremony of the girl has gone viral after Pakistani journalist Nayla Inayat uploaded the video on her social media profile. In the video, the victim can be seen sitting on the ground and people around her recording the video of her conversion.
Nayla Inayat further claimed that the conversion is facilitated by Muslim cleric Mian Mithoo of the Bharchundi mosque. Mithoo is facing several charges of kidnappings and forced conversions of Hindu girls.
Regarding the incident, Sukhdev Hemnani, Vice-President of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Twitter wrote, "Kavita was forcibly taken to Ghotki for conversion from Kandhkot. Following up on the case personally. FIR registered; documents prove she's 13 years old. Lawyer will be filing case at the earliest in morning under Sindh CMR Act."
The Hindu community protested in the Tangwani city of Pakistan against the kidnapping and forced conversion of Kavita. The community urged the local Government to take necessary actions for the return of Kavita to her family. They have also demanded to stop such religious discrimination against the Hindus in Pakistan.
Since the protest, no action has been taken yet for the release of the Hindu girl. There have been numerous incidents of kidnapping and forced conversion of Hindu girls reported in different parts of Pakistan in the last few years. However, the Pakistan Government has kept silence on these issues.
