National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court rejected the bail application of Jesuit priest father Stan Swamy. He is accused in the Bhima Koregaon case. NIA arrested Jesuit priest Swamy for his alleged involvement in Bhima Koregaon violence. Bhima Koregaon is located in the Pune district of Maharashtra.
The Jesuit priest Swamy was arrested on October 8, 2020, and charged under various sections of the IPC and terror-related offences of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. On his bail application, the NIA said that the bail application was not maintainable and there was sufficient material to establish a prima facie case against the priest.
So far, NIA arrested 16 people in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case. Their names are - Jyoti Raghoba Jagtap, Sagar Tatyaram Gorkhe, Ramesh Murlidhar Gaichor, Sudhir Dhawale, Surendra Gadling, Mahesh Raut, Shoma Sen, Rona Wilson, Arun Ferreira, Sudha Bharadwaj, Varavara Rao, Vernon Gonsalves, Anand Teltumbde, Gautam Navlakh, Hany Babu and Christian Father Stan Swamy.
