Bhubaneshwar, Mar 2: UK's Shri Jagannath Society had proposed the construction of the temple on the outskirts of London. The proposed idea has also been supported by Odisha state Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.
According to Assembly Speaker Patro the Jagannath culture is spreading rapidly around the globe. The construction of the temple in London will be a material representation of universal appeal for Bhagwan Jagannath.
The first-of-its-kind temple in the UK as well as in Europe is soon to be constructed by the means of donations from devotees all around the world. The temple is to be built on a 30-acre patch of land. The Shri Jagannath Society form UK, has also received a holy Neem tree, bearing all the scriptural sacred markings associated with Bhagwan Jagannath, in order to carve the idols of the deity.
The first phase of temple construction is expected to be completed by 2024, with an estimated cost of 4 million pounds.
