The Archbishop of Santiago and the highest authority of the Catholic Church in Chile diagnosed with COVID-19. A spokesperson for the church said that Archbishop Celestino Aós had been confirmed positive after taking a test.
The church also confirmed that the auxiliary bishop of Santiago, Alberto Lorenzelli, who lives with the archbishop, had also tested positive for COVID-19.
The spokesperson said that Lorenzelli was hospitalized in the same hospital with major symptoms of the disease. According to the Archdiocese, both men had received the second dose of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine against the COVID-19 on 11 March.
