Telangana Forest Department has cancelled the Saleshwaram Jathara in view of a spike in Coronavirus cases. However, special poojas were supposed to take place on April 26 and 27, as part of the Jathara.
District Forest Officer (DFO) of Nagarkurnool, Kistaiah Goud, informed that due to the sudden rise in Coronavirus cases, this year, the department has decided to cancel the Jathara. The DFO has requested the devotees to cancel their plans for this year's Jathara and co-operate with the forest department.
Every year thousands of devotees from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka take part in the Jathara, undertaking an arduous journey on foot to reach the Lingammiah Temple.
