After several allegations from Hindu organizations on unlawful religious conversion to Islam through marriages, Christian leaders also claimed that their girls also becoming a victim of 'Love Jihad'. P C George Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Kerala said that around 47 girls in his constituency named Poonjar have fallen victims to 'Love Jihad'.
MLA George said that among the victims, 12 are Hindus and 35 are Christians. He also said that he is not going ahead with any complaints or approaching the court as the families of most of these girls are on the verge of committing suicide. He also said that he is convinced that love jihad exists, Times of India reported.
‘Love jihad’ is a term used for a conspiracy by Muslim men to convert non-Muslim girls in the guise of love. In January last year, the Syro-Malabar Church, one of the largest church bodies in Kerala, issued a statement raising concerns about Christian women being “targeted” through ‘love jihad’.
