Hindu temple based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital of Abu Dhabi, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, shipped oxygen cylinders and concentrators to India. Hindu spiritual leaders, dressed in saffron robes, came to bless the oxygen before sending it out, showering rose petals on the shipment. The BAPS Hindu Mandir sadhus and volunteers have joined community members in creating a dedicated supply chain of support and services.
Swami Brahmaviharidas said, “In line with the vision of UAE’s leadership and with the support of members of UAE’s Indian community, BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi is working to create a supply chain of oxygen tanks and cylinders which will provide upwards of 440 metric tons of liquid oxygen per month starting this week – this should be able to fill more than 50,000 cylinders of medical oxygen.”
Volunteers from the country's Hindu community gathered at Jebel Ali Port to haul hundreds of cylinders of liquid oxygen and massive containers of compressed oxygen onto a ship. The organizers, Indian owners of a Dubai helium factory, shifted production to oxygen when the sudden spike in Coronavirus cases observed in India.
