Chesapeake Hindu temple raises funds to help India against Covid

A Hindu Temple in Chesapeake, an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, launched a COVID-19 relief fund to support people living in rural villages of India. The temple’s board members started the fund on April 27 and have raised about $185,000.

Manan Shah, Secretary and board member for Chesapeake’s Hindu Temple, said that to contribute to India’s fight against COVID-19, the board of trustees for the Hindu Temple of Hampton Roads reached out to nonprofit organizations in India and asked what kind of challenges people are facing. Manan Shah was born in India and has a family living in the country.
