Significance of Narasimha Jayanti 2021

Lord Narsimha is a half-man-half-lion avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Narsimha is considered the 4th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Narsimha appeared in this form to save his devotee Prahlad from his evil father, demon Hiranyakashipu. This day is celebrated on the fourteenth day in the Hindu month of Vaishakha, Shukla Paksha. And this year, the auspicious festival is being observed on May 25.
According to the Drik Panchang, on this occasion, devotees eat only a single meal one day before Narasimha Jayanti. All type of grains and cereals are prohibited during Narasimha Jayanti fasting. Parana, which means breaking the fast, is done next day at an appropriate time.
On Narasimha Jayanti day devotees take Sankalp during Madhyahna (Hindu afternoon period) and perform Lord Narasimha Pujan during Sanyakal before sunset. It is believed that Lord Narasimha appeared during sunset while Chaturdashi was prevailing.
