In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, churches under the Chhattisgarh Diocese have been closed for 37 weeks. Due to this, the financial condition of the churches is getting worse. The pandemic has badly affected the church business. As a result, churches are struggling to pay the salaries of the priests and missionaries.
The Rt Revd Robert Ali, Bishop of Chhattisgarh Diocese and Priest Atul Arther, Secretory, said that in the lockdown period, donations to the churches declined by 90%. As churches are closed, priests conducting online worship and Sunday mass. As a result, donations from followers heavily declined. Churches are facing difficulty to manage their expenses of staff, electricity, water and others, Nai Duniya reported.
