Nun Rape Case: The Vatican rejects nun's appeal, but the case still pending in Indian Court

The Vatican has rejected the third plea of Sister Lucy Kalapura. She was expelled from the Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) when she demanded the arrest of the rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal belonged to the Jalandhar Diocese. As a result, she was expelled from the church around two years ago.

The nun Kalapura said “The letter is in Latin but the covering letter spells out the decision. The details will be available only after its translation," she added.
Following the official letter from the Vatican, Sr Ann Joseph, Superior General of FCC wrote, “The appeal of Sister Lucy Kolapura is rejected by Apostolica Signatura and the dismissal is confirmed."
Following the letter, the FCC also sent a letter to Sister Kalapura and asked her to vacate her room in the FCC’s Convent.
However, she had also appealed in the Kerala High court against her expulsion from the Church. Though the Vatican rejected her plea, the Wayanad Court had granted her the police protection and issued an order which stayed the nun's eviction from the convent, The News Minutes reported.
