Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to develop the holy places located at the banks of Ganga River under the Center Government's scheme named Swadesh Darshan scheme. The decision has been taken to promote religious tourism in the State. The estimated cost to develop this spiritual circuit is Rs 100 crore.
Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Change) Pralhad Singh Patel and State Minister for Tourism and Culture (Independent charge) Neelkanth Tiwari observed a presentation about the Ganga Circuit during the review of the progress of the centrally founded tourism scheme.
After the meeting, both ministers informed that the new scheme has been proposed in Ayodhya having a cost of 298.8 Crore under the Swadesh Darshan scheme. Under this new scheme, the developments like the construction of nine-kilometre long ghats on the banks of the Saryu River and other basic facilities will be done. This project will facilitate the pilgrims visiting Ayodhya.
