Left Democratic Front led Kerala Government has decided to restructure the minority scholarship ratio 80:20. The decision was taken after the Kerala High Court (HC) struck down the 2015 Government order allocating the merit-cum-means scholarship for minority communities to Muslims and Latin Catholic Christians and Converted Christians together in the 80:20 ratio. HC stated that the ratio was legally unsustainable, The New Indian Express reported.

After slam by HC, Kerala
Ignoring the status of Indic religious minorities, Kerala Government had ordered the scholarship for minority communities to Muslims and Latin Catholic Christians and Converted Christians together in the 80:20 ratio in 2015. However, Kerala High Court struck down the order and had asked the State to restructure according to the Census 2011.

According to the Census 2011, the State has a minority population of 26.56% Muslims, followed by 18.38% Christian, 0.01% Buddhist, 0.01% Jain and 0.01% Sikh population.
