India’s largest reclining Buddha statue to be installed in Bodh Gaya

India’s largest reclining Buddha statue, some 30 meters in length, is to be installed on the premises of the Buddha International Welfare Mission (BIWM) Temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, within the next few months.

The statue was originally intended to be installed on Buddha Purnima, which this year fell on 26 May, according to BIWM founder Venerable Ariyapala Bhikkhu, but the unveiling ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
