Sikh leader opposes political figures contesting SGPC elections

A Sikh leader named Bhai Baldev Singh, Mukh Sevadar of Sikh Sadbhavna dal and former Raagi of Harimandir Sahib, opposed the political leaders contesting elections of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). He said that they would not allow any political members to contest elections (SGPC). "SGPC is not a political organization, but it is religious Parliament of Sikhs," he said.

Bhai Baldev Singh was addressing the Sangat and media outside Gurdwara where Guru Granth Sahib Saroop was burnt in village Jhollian in Sangrur district, Punjab. He visited there to perform Kirtan, but he was not allowed to perform it. So then he started Kirtan on the road outside the gurdwara, Punjab News Express reported.
