The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church welcomed the criticism by the High Court on the delay made by the Kerala Government in implementing the Supreme Court verdict on the dispute with Syro-Malabar Church.
In a statement, the Malankara association secretary Biju Oommen said that the Orthodox Church hopes that the observation made by the court will open the eyes of the Kerala Government. The verdict of the Supreme Court is the law of the land. Therefore, the Government is constitutionally bound to implement the law, he said.
He said that non-implementation of the court verdicts can only be seen as posing a challenge to the judiciary. Law and order issues arise when there is a delay in implementing the verdict. He also said that the church considers that the State Government will not deny justice.
