Dalit woman files complaint of forced conversion in UP, accused arrested

Sonbhadra, 3 Jan: A Dalit woman filed a police complaint after a man tried to convert her forcibly. After her complaint, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested the accused and initiated an investigation. The accused has been identified as Irshad Ali.
 
Forced Conversion 
 
The incident took place on December 24. The accused forced the victim to come along with him. When she refused, the accused threatened her to kill her son. Then, the accused took her to Firozabad, where he pressured her for conversion to Islam. Meanwhile, her relatives registered a missing report in the police station. After the report, the police searched the victim on December 29 and arrested the accused. The accused, Irshad Ali, has been charged under the SC-ST Act and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, 2021, Amar Ujala reported.
 
So far, Uttar Pradesh Police has registered 108 complaints of forced conversion under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, 2021.
