Investigation agency seizes properties belonging to banned Jamaat-e-Islami in J&K

State Investigation Agency (SIA) seized nine properties belonging to the banned Islamic outfit Jamaat-e-Islami in Jammu and Kashmir. The action was taken in the Shopian district as notified by the District Magistrate of Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya.
According to an SIA statement, 188-210 properties related to the banned group have been identified across Kashmir. This number, however, excludes the Benami properties owned by the organisation. SIA stated that the estimate of the entire price of land assets is around Rs 800 crores.
The action was taken after the SIA submitted the evidence to the DM of Shopian. The assets have been seized under section 8 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
