Advocate Rita Goswami, Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh, has said that people belonging to SC or ST shall get no reservation benefits after leaving their original faith. In her lecture on the Himachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 2019, she said that the people would not get Government benefits, including reservations, once they left their original faith.

Reservation for SC ST

While talking about the fundamental right to practice and propagate religion in the Indian Constitution, Rita Goswami said that it cannot be misused. It is a serious offence to convert someone under the pretext of covetousness, deceit, use of force, or treatment. It shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may range from one to five years and with a fine, she said.
