Supreme Court once again rejected the plea filed by Muslim students for urgent appeal on the verdict of the Karnataka High Court, which upholds the hijab ban in educational institutions. The students in their plea had cited approaching exams for early hearing of the case. The court urged the petitioners not to sensationalize the issue and said the case has nothing to do with the hijab.
The court also refused to specify a date for the hearing. The petitioners pleaded before the court, saying they would lose their one year if there was no intervention from the court.
Dismissing the writ petitions filed by Muslim girl students seeking permission to wear hijab in colleges, the court further said that the prescription of uniform is a reasonable restriction and students cannot object to it.
