Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal Governments failed to provide security to Ram Navami procession attendees. Many incidences of stone-pelting have been reported in which several devotees were injured badly. The attacks on the procession were so intense that the local governments imposed a curfew to control the situation.
Many videos have been viral on social media in which Muslim mobs can be seen pelting stones at the procession. However, the devotees also retaliated. It is a fundamental right of any community in India to profess any religious practices subjected to law and order. However, after taking police permission to carry out the procession, it is the responsibility of the respective Government to provide security and ensure the safety of the people.
