People find ancient Shiv Linga in West Bengal

A Shiv Linga belonging to the Pala era was found on 27th April in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. Residents found the Shiv Linga near the famous Shiva Mandir named Jalpeswara Mandir during excavation work. The image was published on social media.

Shiva Linga is an abstract or aniconic representation of the Hindu God Shiva. Pala was a ruling dynasty in Bihar and Bengal in India, from the 8th to the 12th century. They were followers of the Mahayana and Tantric schools of Buddhism. The empire was founded with the election of Gopala as the emperor of Gauda in 750 CE.
