Tripura to establish an international Buddhist university

The State Assembly of Tripura has passed a bill for establishing Dhamma Dipa International Buddhist University in Manu Bankul. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath tabled the bill in the assembly.
Buddhist university  
The university will promote the study of Buddhism, science, technology, medicine, dentistry, management, law, and other professional courses. It will also offer courses on history, culture, philosophy and art.
Nath said that although the Bahujana Hitaya Education Trust will run the proposed Buddhist university, the State Government will have control over it, as mentioned in the bill.
