ASI finds 1,300-year-old Buddhist Stupa in Odisha

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) found a 1,300-year-old Buddhist stupa near Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha. It was found during a mining operation.

According to the report published by Odisha Bhaskar English on February 28, 2023, following the discovery of the Stupa, the Government stopped the mining operation in the area. The famous Lalitgiri Buddhist monastery complex, which is an ASI-protected site, is located nearby.
According to ASI officials, the Stupa is 4.5 meters tall and may belong to the 7th or 8th century.
