On April 3, 2023, the Hindi portal Samachar Today reported that the two young Christian missionaries were trying to convert illiterate people to Christianity by enticement. Some local villagers called the police and informed them about their religious activities. The villagers alleged that the missionaries have converted some poor people under the pretext of free medical treatment, financial help and superstition. They further told police that the Christians told poor people that they would be free from diseases if they embraced Christianity.

Police arrested both accused and registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and a law against fraudulent and forced conversion.
