Cases of forced conversion of five women and a man to Islam observed in a month

 

 

 

It has been observed in some cases that the accused, belonging to the Muslim community, hid their Islamic identity and trapped the Hindu girls in love and then forced them to convert to Islam by threatening her. Some of the accused were even married as per Hindu rituals in the temples and then revealed their real identity after spending some time with the victims. Moreover, some accused recorded obscene videos of the victim and used these videos while converting her to Islam.

 

On February 26, 2023, Dainik Jagran reported that the victim told police in her complaint that she married a man who introduced himself as Sachin. After a few days, Sachin took her to an Islamic cleric. He revealed his real name and Islamic identity and converted her to Islam, and performed marriage as per Islam forcibly. The victim further said that the accused even converted her children and changed their names to Reshma and Armaan Ali. She further alleged that the accused forced her to eat beef to defame her Hindu faith. She was a mother of two children. The incident took place in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

 

On February 26, 2023, the Hindi portal Patrika reported that victim Poonam Kujur alleged that she came in contact with a man who introduced himself as Aman Pandey on Facebook. She fell in love with him. After a few days, the accused started working as a driver at the victim's house. During the Corona pandemic lockdown, the victim eloped with the accused. The accused took her to Bhinga, a town in the Shravasti district, Uttar Pradesh. There she came to know that the accused name was Khurshid, and he was a Muslim. Khurshid converted her to Islam and performed Nikah forcibly. He molested her and forced her for an abortion. While eloping with Khurshid, the victim brought two lakh seventy thousand rupees and jewellery with her. Khurshid grabbed all cash and jewellery brought by the victim.

 

On March 2, 2023, Maharashtra Police registered an FIR against a Muslim man who allegedly abused a Hindu girl and threatened to throw acid on her face and kill her family for refusing to elope with him. The case was registered at Bhingar Police Station, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra. The accused was identified as Sahil Shaikh. Police arrested him when he was trying to escape from the town.

 

According to the report published on March 3, 2023, by Hindi portal Amar Ujala, a Muslim man converted a Hindu man to Islam on the pretext of a job and marriage in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. The accused was identified as Tufail Khan and the victim was identified as Chandrashekhar Yadav. After conversion, Tufail Khan changed Chandrashekhar's name to Mohammad Hilal. Tufail Khan even taught Kalama to the victim. After conversion, he admitted the victim in the Jamia Arabia Nizamia Madrassa in Nizamuddin, Delhi.

 

On March 9, 2023, it was reported that a Muslim man pressurised a ninth-standard Hindu girl for Nikah and threatened to kill her if she refused him. The incident took place in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. The video of the victim was surfaced on social media. In her complaint, the victim said that Mohammad Saqlain used to follow her when she used to go to school. One day the accused forced her to marry him. On refusing, the accused threatened to kill her. After the incident, she reached home and told her mother about Mohammad Saqlain. The mother met the accused parents. Even after this, Mohammad Saqlain did not agree and started threatening to shoot her, she stated in her complaint.

 

On March 28, 2023, the Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar reported that in the complaint, the 17-year-old victim girl said that in the year 2020, while going to school, her mobile phone had fallen somewhere on the road. Accused Amir Suhail obtained this phone. When the girl called on her phone, Amir Suhail received the call and introduced himself as Golu. The accused then started blackmailing her. He forced her to keep a physical relationship with him and even forced her to marry him. Under pressure, she married Golu in a temple in January 2021. The victim further said that she was not aware that Golu was a Muslim. After about two years of marriage, when Golu's real identity came to the fore, he allegedly started pressuring her to convert to Islam.
